Silazanes

Silazanes are more reactive than standard silicones.  They readily react with atmospheric moisture to produce silicones and ammonia.  This property makes them useful in moisture cured release coating applications.  The most basic silazane is hexamethyldisilazane.  This chemical is useful as a blocking agent in the manufacturing of specialty chemicals and pharmaceuticals.
